Procedural House Generation

I began working on a method to generate buildings via an algorithm in the early Spring of 2004 as part of a class taught by Dr. Lewis. I quickly became more interested in this research than I was in my current thesis research (automated email priority assignment) and switched my thesis topic to working on this. I continued my research in this area under the guidance of Dr. Pitts, who has extensive experience in virtual reality research.

My honor’s thesis on this topic entitled “The Algorithmic Beauty of Buildings: Methods for Procedural Building Generation” was successfully defended on November 15, 2004. A pdf of the paper can be found here (63 pages with figures). If you don’t want to read the whole thesis to figure out what it is I am up to, check out some of the writings I’ve put together about the research.
